Should I stop going to the comic shop for a while?

Posted by NoobClock666 - 13 days ago

I love going to the comic shop, but I like saving money. Maybe I should stop going there for a while. Or if I just want to play, I can just not look at the comics. Self control. Self control. I need Self control.

I'm just regretting for getting comics and not getting more because there was a sell. Fuck! I can't keep spending money like this.

I think it would be best to approach the question from another angle: It should not be a decision to go or not go but rather about the frequency and keeping track of how much you spend per month/quarter.

Since you mentioned 'self control', my guess would be that you spend more that 20 bucks per month and go there more frequently than twice a month... Check your receipts and calculate how much you were spending on average per month in the last 6 months. Then compare that number to your 'actually' disposable income.
If you are close to the red, set yourself a monthly budget and stop going to the comic shop once you've gone too close to the limit to realistically being able to purchase something there.

And if you go over your monthly limit, you have to cut down on snacks and soft drinks. 'Negative reinforcement', if you will. I prefer 'positive reinforcement', but if 'still being able to afford stuff' doesn't work...

On top of that, consider visiting review sites before actually making purchases ("What if issue 3 su**s?") and check out free offerings online to supplement your monthly comic intake.

Hope this helps you (and maybe others).
