I think there's a vaccine against rabies that you should get if you travel to a place where there are many animals with rabies. But I'm not sure, you will have to check. As long as no animals have rabies where you are, you should be safe.
As terrifying as rabies is it isn't likely to happen to you unless you often get in contact with wild and/or diseased animals. Encountering a human with rabies would be very rare as well.
Gonna be honest not really sure how to react to this one.
I hope that you don't seriously contract rabies but unless you're in some third world country like India where it's common it's not that likely you will end up getting it even if you are in a rural area.
And if you do encounter an animal with rabies, don't fuck with it, don't go near it and be sure as hell not to make sudden moves if it's close by.
